With Bing now incorporating Wolfram Alpha in the results, in addition to real time updates from Twitter and Facebook, combined with unique experiences for travel, videos, photos, shopping and others, Bing is starting to look like a platform.

Like Twitter and Facebook, the agreement with Alpha is an outsourcing agreement for a particular set of content that MSFT doesn’t need to build. Instead, Bing focuses on building distribution while relying on others to build up sticky use cases.
