A recent NPD report found that 53 pct of respondents had gone to the movies in the past 3 months, but 62 pct had played video games. A sign of the times or a sign of the times? By that I mean: is this a sign that video games are displacing movies because of higher entertainment value as video games production costs and quality reach ever higher (and user prefer interactive films) or is it because it’s just more cost effective to buy a game for 40 and have several weeks to play, instead of 15 and see a movie once.
