This is Sep Kamvar’s new exhibit in NYC. Pretty reminiscent of wefeelfine.com.

Also, it reminds me of Olafur Eliasson’s exhibit at the Moma in NYC. The NYTimes review the exhibit questioned how far we’ve come with art in the past ten years. Most of the newest modern art I’ve seen focuses on physical user experiences, analogues to the user experiences on the web.

This exhibit in particular uses the data on dating sites on the web. Art in Monet’s time focused on experiencing the physical world, and cutting the experience from angle we don’t often stop to notice. As more users experience the world through the internet and digital media, maybe our art will migrate to exposing the same unusual angles but instead of lilies, of data.
